DFO, What you have said struck a cord with alot of us I'm sure. I have personally been told repeatedly NEVER to lease, never to go O/O stay a company driver. But same as you if I could do it all over again I would. I love the life style, The truck, The open road and most of all running my business. I love the details to it knowing what would be good to do and what would not. I like the freedom even tho I know some will argue. (You have no freedom your a company driver that pays for fuel) Well If that's the way you think then you really don't understand.

Right now my situation sits as I could write a check and have the truck paid off tomorrow. (Have my wife to thank for her endless nagging for us to save) But there is a reason I don't, Like SFI had. Knight has a warranty on these trucks, I pay a 3cpm for it but it covers pretty much anything that can go wrong with the truck. If my truck goes down for any real amount of time my terminal manager is always happy to lend me one of his to allow me to continue on why the truck is down for repairs. If I'm ever in a bind or something goes wrong the program is set up to help you get it fixed or get out of it. This is just some of the few advantages to making that payment vs Not for me. I feel personally being leased on and paying for the truck is a kind of insurance policy.

This keeps me leased on vs Paying the truck off and going it alone.

DFO you have given alot of advice on this board and alot of insight. Your a smart cookie, You have pretty much dotted your I's and crossed your T's on that truck. It looks like its going to be a really solid rig for you and from one IC to another bro Thank you for proving ANYONE that ever doubted any of us wrong.

/rant off (Sorry if I got a little off topic) =)

DFO, it's interesting how you and Jar-Head basically flip-flopped each other's business model with him going from a paid for used truck to a new lease and you going the other way. I, for one, am very interested in seeing it all play out and seeing how each of you adjusts to the realities of your new (to each of you) ways of doing business. Regardless, I am sure you both will continue to be very successful!
