Yes, you can setup direct deposit thru comdata but you are charged everytime you use it. Why should I have to pay to get my money?? E-logs, you are charged $27.50 per month and it's mandatory to have it. Huge fuel discounts?? That's a joke!!! The biggest discount was $.08 per gallon at loves. Less everywhere else. Plates financed over three months. Wow!! Mine is spread out over twelve months. Insurance, you have to use Gallagher for your unladen insurance. Can't shop around for prices. You even get charged to scan paperwork using Landstar's own direct scan. Simply put, LandStar charges you for everything, Period. No Thank You.

    * If tractor fails quarterly inspection, contractor cannot drive truck away without truck being repaired. If needed, has to be towed to another facility to fix, such as if say the TA or Petro cannot fix stated needed repair and truck has to be taken to a dealer.

That's a new policy, haven't heard of anyone being stung by that yet.I keep a pretty close eye on my equipment, but things can happen.Like agents with Landstar,I have built a relationship with the shop that does my inspections. They know my truck and lowboy are meticulousy maintained, and like you I also do ALL my own work in my own shop.Overhauls, clutches, tires, have even built my own glider kit years ago.I don't pay anyone to do anything on my truck or trailer. But I enjoy the free inspection, never hurts to have second set of eyes double check things. Also helps on the highway,as the scalehouses know that Landstar has a strick quarterly no BS inspection policy, keeps the roadside inspections down.

That policy has been in effect for quite sometime. Was at a Petro in Ga. getting a PM and there was a Landstar getting a quarterly. They found his steering box seeping. Petro wouldn't fix it and the dealer was over 50 miles away and Landtar wouldn't let him drive there. That was in 2007.

Again you are incorrect. For giggles I just called the Landstar fuel price line.At the TA in Baltimore, where I buy my lions share of fuel, the pump price is 3.19,my price,2.55,that's a .64 cent discount.Glad you're not here.Oh,and I'm on paper logs, too,no E log.

That was probably more of a DOT shutdown thing. If his steering box was seeping, probably a pretty good chance a bearing in the box was going, needing an overhaul.Like to hear both sides of story. And if a bearing is going in the box on the worm or the sector,it's unsafe, could cause a lockup, and needs to be repaired asap.

Kinda sad in a way DFO like a self fulfilling prophecy! You and some other IC guys
have had quite a following about the program here on the forum. Thanks for
the follow up and hope the rest of the year goes smoothly for you. Speaking
for myself been nice following your threads and my apologies for also
    hijacking the thread.

i have no problem finding loads. It takes a while to learn the system, some people catch on faster than others. I know jack about Landstsr. Choice is one click away. You can go to any company, there always going to be the top earners and the bottom earners. Here at SNI everyone is on the same playing field. You don't have brokers owning trucks here.

Landstar made me pay $15.50 to do my pre-approval drug screen (not scan) as part of my application, and I had to pay for my truck inspection too. As for as the paperwork, my information coming from recruiter so I may have been mislead by incorrect information there. Regarding comcheck...yes you can transfer funds to direct deposit, but why should I have to do that in this day? I have no problems with Landstar as I stated. Yes, it is a great company and glad it is a good fit for you.....just not me at this time.

    DFO,
Your two reasons stated are the main reason I decided to stay at SNI...no company is perfect just as we are not. But I agree with you on both accounts..the simplicity of SNI Choice with the ability to pick and secure loads with a point and click with no human interaction is a big factor for me. And I agree on the issue of a failed inspection of not being able to drive away. Naturally, I would not drive away if I thought I was going to hurt someone.

DougA, I agree with you on this steering box repair issue if it was seeping. That is a type of repair I would not risk driving whether I was told not to anyway. That is why I pay $28.00/month for roadside assistance that would cover having the unit towed to the appropriate shop, but that is what I would do.

    damonarnold816 Thanks this.
