I am not going to argue about LS fuel discounts, but glad to hear you are getting that big of a discount....but funny every driver and the recruiters I have spoken do not seem to know about that whopping big discount. Maybe you should share this great news with them.

You are correct, you pay for the first drug screen and inspection. After that it's on Landstar.I just do local specialized, and it's a good fit for me,as I'm semi retired, only work a couple of days a month anymore.Like they say,'different strokes, for different folks".Be safe.

Not going to argue either, just stating fact. It's real simple friend,if you are at Landstar you will get that discount. If in doubt, call 1-800-494-FUEL,its a recording and you don't have to talk to anyone.Just follow the prompts,it will tell you pump price and our price, which is cost plus .02.Baltimore TA code is 6216.If you want any other TA codes let me know discounts are similar.

Which is the better company for drivers who hope to run under their own authority later in their career? Schneider or Landstar?

Honestly, probably Landstar where you can start building relationships with brokers.
I'm on Schneider Choice and would never leave for another driving job, but I don't intend on getting my own authority either. Like DFO said, Schneider has it's faults, (most of which are well documented in his thread / blog or whatever the heck you call it). But, at the same time it has a lot of pluses that I don't see anywhere else. I may be dumb, (likely), but I'm happy........and frankly, that's all that really counts.

Gentlemen, been looking at IC for a while. When did the percentage drop from 70 to 65?

I just tried the Fuel Price line number and entered the TA code you listed. Says the retail price is $3.199 and the cost plus price is $2.539. That is a discount of $0.66 cent per gallon. From that point, do you have to add back the $0.02 cpg to get what you actually pay? I assumed it would be the "cost plus" price but must have assumed incorrectly.

    DougA Thanks this.

You are correct, that TA is .02 a gallon pumping fee. That varies from station to station, usually in the .02 to .04 price.Add that to the cost,my net fuel price is 2.559.Our other discounts are .25 cents a gallon at Flying J,Pilot..20 cents a gallon at Loves. Our best discounts are usually TA Petro, though. You have to remember,Landstar usually has around 9k trucks at any time leased on.The chains want our fuel business, big customer.

    88 Alpha Thanks this.

    mroden3i,
I am not aware that SNI revenue % was ever at 70%...always been 65% since I have been here. Landstar is 65% if you pull their van trailer, and 72% if you have your own trailer.
