(pure ghetto), there was a few times when i went outside my room at night to smoke a cig and i noticed prostitutes in the parking lot, there was a guy that tried to sell me stolen property, the only decent thing is there is a denny's practically in the parking lot, so if you want breakfast (other than a cup of orange juice and a bagel), and there is a mcdonalds and a chinese buffet across the street.

the instructors are really good, as for class room instructor you will want "Hondo" he's funny as hell and he knows how to teach and how to make it fun.

there are several truck instructors and i can only speak for one of them, but they are all really good at what they do. me personally i had Jim Hicks (2006 Schneider instructor of the year) and he was an awesome instructor, they will pair you up with a truck instructor based on your personality and the way you learn the best (they give you a little survery to figure this out) and its pretty accurate.

the training is 2 weeks, and you need to get used to the idea of 14hr days and forget about having a day off. they have to stuff ALOT of info into your head in a short time.

i live in dallas, and my apartment is only about 8 miles from the hotel, but i still chose to stay at the hotel so i wouldnt have as many distractions and i would be more focused on the school instead of what was going on at home

That figures!! East Dallas sheesh. If I was you I would of called 911 lol,Nobody should have to put it with that lo life crap when trying to better themselves.

Honestly ... I would've just left and got on the quickest bus/car/etc. to get my ### out there...especially if I was broke.

Schneider runs the Eaton 10 -a good tranny to start on and will hold up to student use.
Stay away from the automatics, teams like em because they are smoother, but I would stay away.

Bring your car if you can. Dogs are ok in the truck, but give it a month or two. I like the GB school better and it's less busy.

I will also be training in Dallas, TX with Schneider. I will be going back down to Reserve, La for additional Tanker training, then going out over the road with a TE. I'm also from La. I live on the Northshore. Im from Covington, La. thats about 1.5 miles north of Reserve. I hope that we will be in the same class. Please email me. (I'm not supposed to break the rules dot com) hint hint. I would love to talk to ya. I can give you all the information that my recruiter has given me.

I had to take General Knowledge, Combination vehicle, Tanker, Hazmat, Air brakes test. The thing with La, permits is that there only valid for 2months. So try to schedule the permit testing a few weeks before your schedule to leave for class. I then faxed all the information requested to my recruiter. Once the class date was set up she set me up with a conference call. I spoke with a guy over the bulk div. of training.

After the Dallas training how long is the additional tanker training in La. and how long will you be driving with a TE before going out on your own?

What will the tankers pay per mile after you go solo? Thanks.
