I have run across a few good shippers through the years, but this is one that I ran into lately that really stuck out in my mind. It is "Do-It-Best" warehouse in Medina, OH.
I thought it was going to be a horrible experience when I walked in b/c I didn't see any forklifts - just pallets and pallet jacks. I said to myself, "here we go." The first question was, "what time is your appointment." It was 5:45am and I had a 10:00am appointment. "I said, 10:00am according to my company. I had 44,000 lbs of saltpellets. "Back it into either one of the 2 doors that you can find on that side of the building," said the receiver. "Yes, sir." Heck, I barely had the brakes set and wheel chocked when the forklift hit. I got back in the cab to fill out ppwk and 10 minutes later there was a knock on the door. "Here's your paperwork, sir - I'll kick the chock out for you !!!" Doesn't get any better than that. BTW, the warehouse was all WHITE AND BLACK AMERICANS - NO ILLEGALS !!!!!! That really stuck out in this day and age. I am NOT rascist, but I am patriotic and I don't believe in illegals taking American jobs away.

Evilcapitalist: I drive for Super Service, and run dedicated out of Lexington SC, for Do It Best, they are an outstanding Company, they are very good to everyone who works for or delivers to them we have a small warehouse there and a few months ago, a Canadian driver came in the gate behind me around 7Pm, thet were closed and the liittle truck stop accross the road was full as expected, so I suggested he just drop his wagon in a door and sleep at the truck stop in his truck, as I expected they had no problem with that and he was on his way by 8Am the next morning. Great people and a great outfit if you want a good driving job! I am home each weekend, and make between 900.00 and 1100.00 each week, best driving job I have had as a company driver.

It's nice to here about a place like that. when I was running I had a few that were great a lot that were ok and and a pile that were just horrible. I can't remember the city but it was Texas where they make igloo coolers. I thought it was gonna be a disaster and they had a resteraunt and gave you a number for when they wanted you. I was thinking I'll be here all day went ate a great meal and walk back out fella asked me for my number I give it he says your a Swifty I go yes " head down" he laughs and says the last dock has lots of room go back in. 30 minutes later I'm gone. funny thing was there people there when I left that was there when I came! nice people there too.

There's another warehouse up in Hebron?, IL near the WI line. I almost took a job there. I decided not because their drivers handle all the freight. But it didn't seem like a bad place. It was a 3rd party that hired the drivers. The drivers leave out early like 4am is probably why you got unloaded so quick.
There has to be good customers out there to balance out the bad ones. -

I used to work in a truck shop in Medina off 18. Cleveland is slowly starting to creep south into the area but it is still a great city. Having lived in Florida I can appreciate what you said about actual AMERICANS working there. Speaking English and all.
