So I was delivering yesterday in Regina, and I get a message to call the terminal. Called the terminal and was told the truck was about to break down. I assumed they were joking around and meant I was due for a PM when I got to Markham. I was wrong.
Apparently the truck detected a problem with the SCR system and contacted Mack, who then contacted Superior with the problem and location of the closest dealer. I had no warning lights on so I said I would try to get back into the states and get it to a dealer. Not 5 minutes later my message center says "SCR system fault. Engine will derate in <60mins".
So I delivered the load and went to the dealership. They were closed so I just waited outside the gate. Checked in and they already knew why I was there and had the parts ready to go. I was fixed and on my way out the gate at 1630.
Much much better than the experiences I've had at International.
Mack service...wow

Will you at least get paid breakdown for that? Or are they saying it's routine maintenance? Pretty crazy how technology is being used. It sounds pretty helpful to me. Just my opinion.

I think Mack's deal is similar to Volvo, I would consider a Mack as a new truck, but they REALLY need to upgrade their sleepers, the big condo is fine, but the 60" is just a sleeper, no shelf's, no closet, no back wall storage.
As far as the breakdown pay goes, I don't care how you look at it, but I would much rather be "notified before hand and sitting at a safe place to get fixed ASAP, rather than sitting off the shoulder some where with hood up and staring at a 1500.00 tow bill.jammer910Z Thanks this. -
Hi Numb, I agree. Sounds like the biggest crock I've ever heard. I'm sure someone got a new level on their house for thinking that system up. It probably shuts the truck down if you don't comply.
Missed this!"semi" retired Thanks this. -

Sounds like it might have been a really simple fix, not sure how much it ran your company for the "repair". Did they explain the problem to you? If not, I would say it wasn't a WOW service. -
