does anyone know what the cut off is on blood pressure for a swift dot physical? i know 140/90 gets you a two year card which i have but they have to test me when i go for orientation in a few days and i am nervous as hell. can it be higher than 140/90 and you still pass and be driving or what? what are the circumstances?

When I told them I was on meds for my high BP they told me "so long as its under the 140/90 threshold for the cdl I was alright". So my ASSUMPTION is that thats their cut off as well. When in doubt call em up and ask. Its worked for me this far, your mileage may vary.

I am going to training and when I wake up my Blood Pressure is 125/85 but after two cups of coffee it goes up to 141/over 93 (on average), yeah I know not to drink coffee when I have the physical, but I think 140/90 limit may be too low.
Even though I am sure I will pass, your blood pressure does vary a lot during the day, so is you were 141/89 I am not sure that you should be rejected???? -
They will take it several times over a period of time when it is close like that. Just stay calm, and whatever you do, do NOT think about the pretty nurse that is taking your pulse and BP.
bigmikectn Thanks this. -

Thanks for the great info, I have three weeks until the physical. I have went from 265 lbs. to 255 in one week. I hope to be in the high 230's by the time of my physical. Doctor told me that every ten lbs. I lose, my bp will do down by 10%. Seems to be true, it is lower every day.
I walk 5 miles a day now and cut out the beer and ice cream. Man that was tough, but got to do what I got to do. -
When I went to the Swift Clinic the other day mine was all over the place..I was worried as hell but when I went in and talked to the Doctor It came out to 138/88 so I passed..She gave me a 1 year card because I just started on lisinopril for my high blood pressure about 3 weeks ago..

Great to know handymn... I go a doctor appointment on November 15 and I will tell him I need to pass the BP test. I am keeping a record of my bp, so I can show him. I will definatly do what it takes to pass the test. Hopefully my exercise gets it down, but if not I will ask for meds.

Yes and you should be ok..Worst case I think they will give you a 6 month card if it's over...
