Do some of your "own" research again and find out the repercussions that some of the people endured after having attended that facility. My heart bleeds, they got their name dragged through the mud. Boo Hoo...I am not nor will I EVER cry. I was IN Tennessee at the time, wasn't even at the hotel except for a few days. The address I had was with a friend who I roomed with and it was a "physical" address in Tennessee.I even remained in Tennessee for quite a while..I never "tried" to transfer this license ANYWHERE... I got back into driving because I was in the same shape I was in just like I was after I got out of the service in 97, I had no place to stay, needed to work, had to pay child support and I at "least" had a roof over my head, via the truck...(This time it was thanks to a word called "layoff"..I lost my apartment, my car, and a major portion of my belongings, then I had the "genius" refresher idea and decided to go through this crap)... Four and a half years after going to Millington and operating on THAT VERY SAME LICENSE I obtained there, and not "transferring it".... I was in my own truck, paying for the &%$^&%%^ thing. The incident that occurred between that facility/Memphis location and Tennessee made it "impossible" for me to even retake a test anywhere...Why?...Because I was living out on the road, the truck became my home. I couldn't meet the requirements to even "test" again. Could not move my truck to retake the test in, because ACCORDING TO THE LAW I did not even HAVE a CDL..So the truck sat in Missouri, because I could not LEGALLY move it..And God forbid if I did and I was involved in an accident where someone got hurt, and when the officer researched, who do you think would have been strung up by the --lls???...me.......Why? Operated a commercial vehicle without a license...

Before these wonderous events occurred I was taking steps to move and actually gain a physical address in Iowa two months before the license was due to "officially expire" TWO MONTHS, if these people would have just left me alone for two WHOLE MONTHS I might could have just paid, got another license and kept on driving,(hell I might have even been able to roadtest in my own truck if I had too).. but NO, I was "stopped" out on the road, license just "cancelled" as if it never existed...All of this crap brings into question is my T.W.I.C. card even "official"? I used the same cdl to obtain the TWIC card and that was through the government or "feds" as you say. I also obtained a "wreckmaster certification" I.D. card to operate tow trucks, I also used that very same C.D.L....So is this certification also false? I don't care who got dragged through the mud, I really don't. The events that transpired between that facility and the state of Tennessee are/were so screwed up that it took me TWO months just to get a REGULAR operators license to drive a *&^&%$ car, it was that bad. (It's funny that my friends in law enforcement here can still pull up in the computer system that I had a previous C.D.l. but the dumb ###E$ up there couldn't???)...nope lets just cancel his license like everyone else, it doesn't matter what happens to him, and we don't care how long he had previously operated a semi safely without an incident or speeding ticket, and we don't care how long he has been driving.

If someone did their "research" as you say, then they would have seen that I had a CDL before from 97 to 2000, (that combined on top of the seven years driving while in the Army)...I just didn't walk off the street and into that illustrious facility one day deciding "I think I want to drive a truck".I attended that facility in good faith as a refresher course because I had been off the road for a little while. I helped other students while there, I even received compliments from some students because of the way I explained certain things to them. But NO none of this, none of my previous experience was even asked about, mentioned, discussed or nothing. I even tried to EXPLAIN this to the people in charge in Tennessee, do you think it even mattered? NOPE..The story behind Millington, the story as to why this happened, changed from day to day per my phone calls.I NEVER got the same reason twice... The lady I spoke with would not even name the facility in question and only called it "the third party tester"..

I don't care WHO stepped in,I don't care who did WHAT...someone up there,or a group of someones screwed up, there WERE Tennessee law enforcement officers working in conjunction with the people at the facility in Memphis, and it was a Tennessee law enforcement officer who took my information, took my picture for that license etc.and they were the ones whom I surrendered my Mississippi license to..

The facility made the students go back home to their original place of residence over the Thanksgiving holiday) so that way and I quote from one of the instructors there "when you come back you will have established enough time to have been considered a resident of the state of Tennessee and you can get your cdl"..AHEM..... even though the students were not PHYSICALLY there...BUT I WAS.....If something had been "tailored" as you say, or perhaps even LEGAL then none of the events that transpired would have even happened.....would they........

I could almost say that if I had managed to get my truck to somewhere that MADE me retake a roadtest, the officer would have taken one look at my truck and probably been confused as hell as to how in the world I got such a nice truck with "no experience and lack of proper training", if they would have climbed inside and took a look around it would have blown their minds even more..........I lost a 75000 dollar truck because of this whole affair and as I said before the HELL with them all.....

I do feel for you, honestly. But, you are bitter as hell against the academy and even accusing me of not doing my research when even with all the info about what you personally went through still points to the state of tennesee screwing up, not the millington academy. And how could I possibly do more research and know your personal story without you telling me preveiously. Everything I stated in the post was true and you even confirmed it, yet you yourself can't seem to see the blame is to be placed on the state of tennessee, you even stated it was a tennessee law enforcement officer that took your information.

If something had been "tailored" as you say, or perhaps even LEGAL then none of the events that transpired would have even happened.....would they........

I agree, now reread my post. I was saying that the tailoring to each students state requirements is what they do now, instead of the old way of all students being tested and licensed in tennessee. As to the legality, again if they had done anything against the law they would have suffered consequences, they did not.

I can fully understand you being pissed off over the whole incident and what you were put through, I don't know anyone that wouldn't be. But I would place blame against those that screwed up, the state of tennessee. hell I would even be pissed at the federal government for not allowing you to retest. But you yourself state you had no permanent address at the time that the government stepped in and claimed your license, whos fault is this? You don't have to move your stuff to show residency, a small bill to that address is all, trash, water, etc. in your name will work.

The purpose of my post was to put a bit of truth out there when so many swift bashers use what happened over two years ago between the state of tennessee and the millington academy as if what happened was a swift screwup and says what a terrible company they are. This was between the state and federal governments, Millington was caught up in it because of the number of permits and licenses issued. This had nothing to do with their training and preparing professional drivers for the road, if there was an issue with testing then again as you yourself stated, tennessee law enforcement handled this. If it was a third party tester, then it is a third party, again not millington.

No I am not a recruiter, I am simply a newly licensed driver that went through the Millington academy. I had heard all the BS and decided to find out the truth before I went. I am happy with the instruction I received and now posses a Michigan class A CDL. If I was to have my licensed canceled it would be because of Michigan, the third party tester, or the federal government, not because of the Millington academy. Place blame where it is due.

If "Millington" was the only place that I "physically" stood to garner refresher training, then how could it NOT have been the "third party tester"?No one else showed up there other than the instructors and officers I saw every other day. And NO its NOT easier to blame Swift for these events, but last I checked the training academy there was the ONLY place I went to. But I have heard SO MANY different accounts as to why these events occurred. And what you are saying is something totally new to me and NOT what I was first told when I was placing many many phone calls to Tennessee. My whole point has been that something occurred during the time I attended. If there were ONLY a few people affected then someone up there utilizing those computers could have looked me up in the computer system and seen that I had a CDL previously. I can honestly say that I should have NEVER been affected by this. What genius says that someone that has driven for years and years has "not received proper training"???? I mean I was driving trucks for seven years before I even attended T.D.I. in 97??? BUt I STILL did not receive proper training?? C'mon...

But no they cancelled me just like everyone else. And if I offended you I apologize, because I saw your statements at 3 a.m. in the morning on one of these many many nights that I do not sleep right anymore. I even called Swift oh several months back,(before all of these incidents happened) thought about coming back to them, doing their owner operator thing, but since I had already been there once, oh no I couldn't pay a 1000 bucks to get into my own ride, it was going to be 2500... So I decided to go my own way, but as it turns out, this crap still got me in the end. I mean how do you think I would have felt if I was back driving for them when these events occurred? Gone right back through the same process I JUST went through??

Yes I am bitter, but until I find out the COMPLETE truth about these incidents my attitude won't change much...Let me ask though, while you were there were there any mentions of lawsuits pending against them because of that affair??....Just curious...

And quite frankly, I wish you the best in your career, I hope you go far, but I seriously hope that you are not driving down the road a few years from now and yours is cancelled.....This crap even reached out to those drivers who DID transfer their license back to their own state.

And yes I know that it doesn't require much to show a "legal address" but I was in the process of moving also when this hit. Iowa, as I said, would not work with me with what I had, I didn't have enough to show proof that I was moving there.

I'm one of those single fathers who tried everything from working three jobs at once to driving, I simply could'nt afford everything even working three jobs. I couldn't afford rent, car, bills and child support, something had to give, and wouldn't you know it thats when the layoff occurred, so the decision was made for me. Back to a rolling fiberglass cubicle I went...

I was living the same way from 97 to 2000 without incident, and when I landed the Aerospace gig, I had no problems transferring the license back then, but I think that after 9/11 so many things have changed to the point where "complications" have arisen for even the "normal" Americans.

But do me a favor and tell me "how you're roadtest was done"...I'm highly curious about that one....

Thanks, and once again I apologize if I offended you, but I do have respect for you because at least your not talking like the atypical trash talking driver out there...

P.S. The reason I mentioned your research is because your numbers did not match all the numbers I was first told about. Like I said this story has changed and changed and changed since these events occured..

NO, its NOT easier to blame Swift, but something happened between Swift, their "driving academy" and the state of Tennessee...(and I have read, seen and heard SO MANY DIFFERENT THINGS)..as I said that was the only place I attended in 05...SO just WHO do you want me to speak of??...Oh hell I know it was Werners fault.......Or wait, perhaps it was Schneider....Lets see state wise I suppose I'll blame California????....

Nocell: I do not blame you at all for being upset, and no, you certainly did not offend me in any way. I am probably one of the most laid back people you will ever run across. It was a bad situation for anyone involved. All the different schools do is prepare students to pass the DMV test and get their license. If later the state or the federal gov feels it is invalid then that is not the schools fault, they did their job. it is an issue with the tester (which either works for the state or is state certified) the state or our highly intelligent government.

As to my test ... after I finished two weeks in Millington doing classroom and range I was moved to Gary, IN for week three and my road training. This is where they send those from Indiana, Illinois and Michigan to fine tune and prepare for their state tests. I took my test in Michigan with a third party tester. the pre-trip and skills portion were conducted at another schools range (PDI) and the road portion on the highways and city streets nearby. Not sure what else your curious about, but feel free to ask.

Well 1st of all there's no way to tell how many miles you'll get when ur on the road...it's up to the planner and ur DM. At normal times, 2400 + is easy to get but if there's a slow down in freight or if you dropped in a slow area then it might be awhile b4 you see a load. A good planner will get u a pp b4 u even drop ur load...

^^^ All of this is true. It is also very dependent on your willingness to run. If you like to turn down loads then your opportunities will also be turned down.
