As most of you know, Swift has a policy that if a company drivers takes more than 3 days off, they must clean out the truck and turn it in. Well, I had earned a week off, and so I did what I was supposed to do and turned the truck in. I then set my PTA to Wednesday, and took off for my hometime. Came back on Wednesday, just like I said I would, and they have no truck. There had been one available that morning, but they gave it to a newb. It's now Friday, and still no truck. No information, either, on when I might get one. So be aware, if you follow the rules that Swift set, they can still mess you over anyway. Just an FYI.
No truck- just an FYI

That's messed up, I understand wanting to utilize the equipment but you're not using 100% of your assets. Every driver should be running if you are going to make everyone a slip seater.
So do they at least compensate you for your time since you are required to be at work but they don't have a truck for you to run?aiwiron Thanks this. -
thats a pretty crappy way to have to do it--a weekhere and there isnt much in the big scheme of things--but the bigger the company--the closer they watch the operating costs
my last place i was off 3 months and they didnt want me to clean out the truck--i offered
now the bad part is--when a truck does come up for you--you get a whole new set of idiosyncrisies to learn--same truck type but different gremlins -
They are paying you layover, right ?

That sucks,
We have a similar set up and I took off extra time for family health issues. I've been back a week and still haven't gotten my truck back. But, in the mean time they've been sending me out helping other drivers. It really does help the other driver having an extra set of hands (doesn't take anything away from them either pay wise) and I still make money. -
I am receiving no pay, and I won't until I get a load, which won't happen until I get a truck, inspect it and fix anything that is wrong with it, clean it out, and move in.

I've been with Swift since Feb 2007. I would have thought I would get a truck before a newb, but I guess they just put everyone on a waiting list, and I wasn't put on that list until Wednesday. Someone dropped the ball, but pointing fingers isn't going to get me into a truck any quicker.

This just isn't right. No way should they treat you this way. If it was me, I'd be looking elsewhere.
