Back on track! Here in lovely (hahaha) Gary, IN to upgrade (passed) take the LCQ class (noon) and phase II tiedown class (next week I assume). The hotel is pretty nice I have to admit. I had hoped to do tiedown in Greer so I could commute from home but alas, the best laid plans of mice and men blah blah blah. Here I am lol. It feels nice to have the road test behind me. Don't have a clue what LCQ class will be or be like. Will be more thorough back at the hotel this evening.

Just a quick heads up, if your in doubt about your securement, ask another flatbedder for advice, I did when I first started and now help others when they need it. Open deck guys are almost always cool to deal with and willing to help another skateboader.

Guess I can give a bit of a review of today in case anybody is wondering about the upgrade or LCQ class/test. Neither are anything to sweat. Just pay attention and take your time and you will do fine. The road test is not difficult you just have to pay attention and drive safe and legal. As for the LCQ class, yes the course is tight but it can be done. Go slow and GOAL. There is no time limit.

Is the initial road test on a flatbed trailer if that is where you are going or do they test you on the van initially.

I did both of my roadtests with a van. YMMV

Careful with that, though. There are flatbedders out there who give bad advice, too. If another flatbedder gives advice, and it seems sketchy, get another opinion.
