I'm assuming once you reach the time you either train, lease a truck or become an owner operator. I wonder what kind of profit Swift turns? With freight rates up, fuel economy going up on trucks, I'm kinda surprised they haven't put in a pay raise for their drivers yet.

Are their freight rates that low that is all they can afford to pay the drivers? I'm still trying to figure this one out. I think Werner is the only other carrier that pays this low.

Anyways, you can get 5 pay raises in one year, or you could just find a company that starts you off at .32, .35, or even .39 cents per mile. I know Swift is a decent company to work for, I just can't get over their pay scale.

Crete is the only one I recently have been watching. .02 cents across the board. I give them credit. I think .43 or .44 per mile to start. Roehl is much lower at a year, even with your choice. Roehl also has better home time which for me is not a big issue. Tough to leave a comfort zone for a few cents. Maybe others will follow creates lead or more drivers will move. I'm not the type to move around a lot too.

I feel bad for those drivers getting the super low $$ for what they are doing.

The low starting pay is why I have a hard time telling people to come over here even though I'm quite happy. In flatbed you'd make 36cpm after a year if you stay clean and reach platinum rank (not hard). And with the extra pay and constant miles it's easy to take home 1k+ per week.

But looking back, would I have done flatbed work for 26cpm, or recommend that anyone else do the same... No.

We did however get a message a few weeks ago saying that we'd be given raises and new trailers by the end of the year. For the flatbed department anyway. But there were no further details.

I read that Swift operates at around 98% debt to income so 2% profit.

You really have a hard on against Swift. If you really do a search, you will find in some areas that the pay is really less. Look at some companies that are down South and see what they pay. Based on the cost of living down there. I know. I have done the search. I know that when I started 3 years ago as a company driver, I started at .40/mi. Yes, they also base on EXP. My question, why such the hard on about Swift. You are not planing on working here, and I would think that if a person is intelligent, they will do their search so that they can find what best works for them. There is also something else that you are not learning. Their are drivers that are lucky that train with a Mentor that works a dedicated account, and when training is done, they get offered a position on that same accont, and yes, where the pay might have been .26/mi, they would be getting what the account paid, and that might maybe be about .36/mi. This is not on the site. But then again, just you and what you want to perceive.

You can get all of the CPM, but if the miles are not there, then you still make nothing. I remember years ago when JB raised their pay to some great amount, and all of the drivers where talking about it, and I was getting about .04/mile less then they were, and they were telling me to come over there, and then found out, avg miles per week, about 2200, mine was then about 3K, so who was making more

Chill dude. I said Swift doesn't seem like a bad place to work, just their pay is off. Dedicated and OTR, two different things. Most people do OTR, so dedicated wouldn't make much a difference. But, yes you can make more in dedicated.

I reply to one post about leasing a truck, then post this and it qualifies me for having a hard on for Swift?
