See, again, whatever happened to driving the truck. Bunch of baloney. I never needed a sensor telling me I stopped too fast, took a turn too sharp, following too close. Just terrible. What's next. A sensor saying, sun's out today, should of had your sunglasses on, or, we noticed your belt is one notch looser.

Ok good. Thanks for the responses.

Sucks if I get Swift points for this but it is what it is. The only alternative to hitting the brakes was to slam into the moron. If Swift were to call and ask me I'll tell them the same thing, there were no other options.

It is surprising that I got it though. I didn't even notice it as an "event". I've hit my brakes harder on occasion launching stuff out of my top bunk and didn't get an alert.

And of course, those times when I hit those sweet jumps set up in the middle of the road and get some Evel Kneivel air I don't get an alert. I joke Swift. I was thinking of a video game. Do not fire me.

Yeah, that's kind of creepy Doc, that you hit your brakes harder, and didn't get an alert, but in traffic, it came up. Maybe you've got a hidden camera somewhere.
Hi Doc, when I had a computer in a truck I drove once, this was my biggest gripe about that "hard braking" thing, and I got a few of them too. Usually, it just required an explanation, and I think companies go on an average type thing. 1 or 2 spaced far apart, generally isn't a cause for alarm, and these people have to realize, stuff does happen, however, if they get a "hard braking" 6 times a day, something is wrong. Like years ago, my 1st trucking job, when my truck would go in for a service, it was the mechanics job to report to the boss, if the brakes needed a big adjustment, the boss would call you in the office and say, "we had to adjust your brakes more than normal, are you overdriving the truck?" Naturally, the smart guys who knew how to adjust brakes, got around that, but it's the bosses way of keeping tabs on you. I wouldn't worry about 1 or 2 of those.
That reminds me of the first company I drove for back in 1974. The boss would hang around the fuel pump as the trucks came in and see how hot your brake drums were. Too hot for him and he'd be bustin' balls.

The worst part of a critical event is being called into safety and you have some person in his mid 20's, never driven a truck, book smart, telling a person with clean accident record with over 20 years, how he should have handled it and no matter what you say, you are wrong. Had 2 with SNI, first time he was telling me how to handle it, the second when I had a chance to miss a deer. Should have hit that #### deer. It was the perfect excuse to finally get that new truck.

I was told by someone (I believe a safety person) that the system logs a hard brake when you slow faster than 9 MPH in 1 second. That's why a quick stab at the brakes (the kind that clears bunks) doesn't trigger an event.

Hi Ms., see, I'm not questioning you, but if that's true, that doesn't make a lick of sense. A hard stab might be all you get before an accident. Maybe a hard stab, with nothing happening after that, I suppose. The whole thing stinks, and like blsqueak says, someone looking at your driving from an office chair that doesn't have a clue what goes on. When we had the old tattle tales (speedographs) years ago, we had a safety guy that was a total doofus , was someones nephew, or something, and I came back from a particularly harrowing day of driving in a blizzard, with trucks and buses going off the road left and right in front of me, it was a miracle I made it back at all, and this roundhead looks at my graph and says, " I see you were going 22 mph for 2 hours, what's that all about"? I looked at him, gave him the sourest look I could muster, turned around and walked out.

my speedo dropped like a rock. under 25.

when i first got the call. i was delivering on a very narrow winding road through small towns and what not. cars coming around blindspot corner. trucks. you name it. brakes were hit. but not nearly as hard as the office made it out to be.

i had no idea what the heck office was talking about.

then i seen the message on the screen. had no idea why. eventually i figured out it was the speedo. and eventually, i told the office to get off my back. i'll fix it when i fix it.

don't know what kind of message it sends the office. but it records a graph. of your whole driving shift.

I think its all hog wash..The conditions, and sensitivity of each unit varies.
This past week I had a driver change lanes, then stuff me on brakes.
I hit the brakes Very hard, cooler went into dash, which is my redneck hard
braking indicator.
Im looking for red light, and critical event, but nothing.Go figure.
If we plow all over somebody, but avoid tripping any sensors, then its all good.
Just tell safety,"Hey!!No Critical braking!!Pretty good, huh??Give me a new truck
I got some more driving to do,now that I got this figured out..":biggrin_25522:

I was never close to rolling one over, you can get those leaving a truck stop like
someone else said.At SNI we actually had a driver get one on the yard :biggrin_25514:
