Are there many of you using personal dash cams for CYA..or for friends/family to show them the scenery?
I've been considering one for a while for accidents to keep some 4-wheeler from spinning the truth just in case.
I saw this short vid a couple days ago somewhere else and got to thinking about a dashcam again.
Do you think this was a preventable or not?
White SUV merging from far right, comes across three lanes no signals. Was in OKC.

Looks like you hit someone a second time? The first one wasn't your fault.
-
The "bump" you see is he flipped the splitter to low gear while downshifting by accident and lurched the truck a bit in the process...if I remember correctly. -

bigNATURE Thanks this. -
The video is kind of deceiving. I wasn't going that fast. I was empty and it was really slick out. I stopped the camera right after that so I could save it for later and right after I did there was a ton of accidents. The news said they closed all access to the highway while they salted and sanded.
Raiderfanatic, HousTank and bigNATURE Thank this. -
it's not his video, but he knows why the truck bumped because of lowering the splitter.
if that wasn't a hit, to which it looked like it was, and the car gets a nice crease AFTER , then why did both vehicles pull over? -
I see this much too often in LA, people going from the entrance ramp to the hammer lane-which I think is because of the trucks in 2 right lanes only laws!!
Then you have to watch for the opposite, people trying to get to the exit from the hammer lane!! lol
Traffic would move much better if everyone had the same speed limit and were not lane restricted. My .02 -
Ran a lady off into the grass a few years ago. She called the cops and said I ran her off the road. Got pulled over and her behind me. She neglected to say she was getting on the highway. She said I didn't move over when she was entering the highway. Cop heard that and told the lady he doesn't have to move over and said I could go.

Yeah, I have this top dawg dash cam and I'm considering something with higher quality. If I actually need evidence off this thing I don't know if it would be clear enough, then adding the fact that it's only a 2 minute loop of recording time. I might be near the end of mine recording time, say the last ten seconds, the boom! It starts over deleting the piece I need. I don't know. I overthink things @ times
HousTank Thanks this.
