Swift isn't the worst of the worst though. In the grand scheme of big megas, we give them a lot of flack, but they are not the worst. Not by far.

It's not a scam either, as they tell you the MILES and the pay that come with it. Trucking isn't filled with magical trips of 600 plus miles. Some times, we have to get shorter runs. It sucks. So please stop saying they are a scam. You may be one of the reasons US EXPRESS did away with them. Now, you get no extra pay for short runs. WIN.joseph1135 Thanks this. -
Just saying that the base is what you look at, and the higher rates on a sliding payscale are little more than a marketing ploy.Last edited by a moderator: Sep 23, 2014

I like the sliding scale I am on a dedicated account that uses the OTR pay scale and our longest trip is 421 miles. We then head back empty so I get paid .45 cpm to the store and .43 cpm back to the dc. And if they have me take a load of pallets back from the store it gets dispatched on a separate trip and I get .45 cpm both ways. I go home every night and get weekends off and am doing 4210 miles a week (monday-friday). All in all I am happy with it and the raise in pay from the .40 cpm I was making makes up for the mileage I lost from going OTR to dedicated. Plus there is alot less bs to deal with on a dedicated account and I go home for 8 to 9 hours every night.

Here's the dilly with Swift. Now, I'm not going to work for Them, BUT:
When Arrow went under they were the first company to send their drivers to rescue those guys
When SRT told a deceased driver's family that they were going to charge $2100 to get the driver's belongings back home, Swift did so at no charge AND brought his creamated remains home
This pay raise could be a game changer in the industry. Other carriers will take notice and most will act accordingly.
Say at what you want about Swift, but they have done a lot of good in the industry as well.JOHNQPUBLIC, Stuka, Brandson and 5 others Thank this. -
What people who are basking this don't get is new drivers have to start somewhere. They also seem to forget that the average age of truckers is over 50 without new drivers the industry will die.
Stuka Thanks this. -

Sorry but I dont give two ##### what you or anyone says . Your not running 840 a day on elogs in a 62 mph truck.
Even if it was a 7 day week : for 4210 in a 62 mph truck you'll get about 620 or so depending on where your driving , take into account pre trip, post trip , and fueling (on duty) you will eat your 70 before the end of your week.............
The math dont add up
