So, for those who drive for Swift (I'll be joining your ranks soon), and/or have actually experience either behind the wheel or living in them (both preferably) which truck should a newbie like myself desire? I've never driven trucks before, I was previously a bus operator. My only experience with both of these companies products were their coaches (Orion and Prevost).
I'm not a "flashy" type person, I don't desire a truck covered in chicken lights, chrome or other "tricked out" accessories; I just want a comfortable job and living space. I have many things in mind when it comes to a truck, given my limited knowledge and experience the first being space and height. I'm a tall guy at 6' 4", average weight or so. I know at some point I'll be living in one of these rigs, I understand that I don't have a "say" in which type of rig I get, but if I decide to lease or own I'd like to know.
For looks of these vehicles, I like both, but I know nothing of their mechanical and electrical system, nor their performance. So, I'd like your opinion. Also, what comes on these trucks? What features does a Swift tractor has others may or may not? Which vehicles gets better fuel mileage? What is their MTBF (let's see who is paying attention here)? Pros? Cons, etc? Anyway, I'll leave this to you guys. I've read many reviews and seen videos, but I'd like to hear my fellow drivers thoughts.
Thank you for helping me make an informed decision.

Drive first. Worry about what kind of a truck in a year or 2.
As long as the heater and a/c work, and you learn how to override the idle restriction, you're good. Hopefully everything else also works.
Good luck. -
You will learn to like whatever they give you after you clean up the last drivers filth. Take care of it and it will take care of you. I didn't start with Swift..but my first truck had was a 2007 T600 with 650k on it...I put another 100k on it. Driven about 4 since then and it is still my favorite one.

You making it sound like they are going to be giving you a choice.

if your thinking and you get fuel bonuses think about the most aerodynamic for the most in fuel bonuses while both are produced on a mass produce them so they both will be able to be fixed and the freightliners have more shops and then think about the biggest truck for you

Get some experience under your belt first. -
The FLs I have seen with Swift lately have the Cummins "C" on the California clean idle sticker, I'm not sure what the Volvo have.
There is a newish Cascadia parked in town when he's home.
Lease ops can get other makes, just saying. -
they both nice. i like the volvo because better steering and you can drop your air bags. my cascadia cant drop air bags like the volvo i drove when i was in the shop. but honestly you will end up liking whatever you get. as long as it clean, and everything works you dont got to worry about the truck.
