A few things have come up do far.
Nothing to get too excited about, but important information for sure.

    1) the school is 4400. not 3900.
500 is for the lodging and not waived for Vets, and will be payroll deducted.

    2) The school is ALL DAY EVERYDAY! Sat and Sun too. So DFW locals thinking about commuting or having those last couple of weekends, nope its game on from the start of school!

As far as the DOT hearing... I was sent to Concentra, a standard Occ Med clinic. I did not have a 'hearing test' so I think if your able to respond to them normally they just mark that section normal.

Texas DPS was a pain, lots of standing in line to get thru each portion.. but I got all the certs, double, triples, tanks, etc.

I start drive school Monday morning!

AZTracefan, Cjh_army and Lepton1 Thank this.

I beg to differ...I have the contract in front of me. I do not have the time to type it out at the moment, however the lodging is free as long as you commit to 12 months, the same as tuition.

    I hope you are correct.

The info I have received has been very confusing the entire process.

Per example 1) earlier in this thread I posted the program as it was sent to me in the beginning.

    2) After being sent for my DOT (I had to pay $80) and passing the online course, I was sent to a week long school that was supposed to pay for my exams.
After getting there I learned that I still had to pay for my exams, but that they would have paid for my DOT had I not already done so.

    3) Friday on the phone, the recruiter made a point to explain that I would be payroll deducted the $500 for lodging... but not to worry the school would not as long as I do the 12 months.

So who knows.. I suppose it will all be clear with tomorrows paperwork!
I will try to post tomorrow with the info I find out.

    This hotel is pretty nice.
    Scored a cool roommate.
Can see my car from the window, which is nice.

Only complaint... is the super slow elevator. Take the stairs, or allow an extra 5 minutes waiting for that thing!!

What's your opinion of Swift's cameras in the trucks plus listening devices?

I saw a VQ-1 aircraft with shrapnel holes in Vietnam. None of the crew was wounded. I wasn't in VQ-1, just happened to see the aircraft when it landed.

I spent many hours inside PR32 that got hit by China in 2001. I was done with active and transitioned to reserves in 98, but know some of that crew.

Integrity is doing the right thing even when no one is watching.

I was in a leadership class long ago... and received the advice... "Perform your duties everyday, as if video would hit the evening news... will your family be proud or ashamed?"

    Plus

Camera systems have been apart of most jobs Ive had. Under the guise of security, but routinely used to scrutinize managers and employees.

I enjoy cussing like a sailor when dealing with traffic.. its more of a comic relief than anger. That's the worst they would get on me..

And keep in mind... just like the debates with police depts right now. If you clearly are doing things right, and are in fact the victim you would want that video to demonstrate that.

I would not consider the job of LEO unless I had a camera on me at all times. No way I would sign up to deal with liars, cheaters, criminals and lawyers... without recorded evidence.

I am inclined to want that working for me in a truck.... I ride motorcycles as much as possible, this cell phone and texting is getting out of control. I am very much aware of every car in my field of vision on the bike, and see stupid happening constantly.
