    WTF?

I've been at this research for months now... (Serious job app research, after years of industry reading from these forums) and am ready to pull the trigger on Swift.
The decision based mostly on the Free Training/One year commitment. That really impressed me, and seemed like a good deal as well. Enough to over-look and have a willingness to accept the thousands of 'horror' stories that had been steering me away.

I sat down at my computer (Just over THREE HOURS AGO) ready to knock out all the online paperwork possible to get this ball rolling.
Not knowing the exact web address.. I throw Swift Trans Veterans Training into the ole Google search bar, and just below the website I am looking for is a 'Vet Beware Swift Training' link.

Which lead to another story/link.... and another.. etc. Its now almost midnight, and I am trying to figure out the following:

    Is all that is required:

An Honorable discharge from Active Service
    Clean Background/Drive History

Can anyone confirm if Swift has modified the program recently? or are there other DETAILS to be reviewed??
IE: When you were discharged, Previous GI Bill Usage, Status of other Available benefit options???

Its almost midnight and I am fired up... didn't get anything done I had planned, and now may have to shift gears for another option.

I very much hope the program has changed due to all those stories floating around, but it kinda seems hard to expect.

PS: a Big Thank You to all who served!

Before you jump on the Swift bash wagon maybe you should call the company and get your information first hand instead of from the losers who couldn't cut it at something as dumb ### simple as Swift CDL school . The main number at the hq in Phoenix is 800-800-2200 .

I had to go through the entire training process with Swift because my experience was too many years stale for the insurance company's criteria . As a Vietnam combat veteran the best I got for my service was to be vilified as a baby killer and literally spit on while returning to the States in uniform . The first day at Swift Academy San Antonio we were asked for our DD214s. Two of us were vets and we were given a $1000 discount on the spot for no other reason than that we served . All those decades since I came home I got offered NOTHING for my service and I wanted less . Swift did this without any fanfare and it was never used as an inducement to attend their school . I understand they have other programs now .

I don't know about Swift, but Midwest-coast Transport and Raider Express both have terminals in Ft. Worth and both have their own CDL school.

Midwest runs lots of coast to coast; CA/FL
Raider shows their freight lanes on their website.

Read the first five words of this post . The translation is I don't have a clue but I looked up these other companies on the net . This is why I recommend you call Swift ; you will be getting plenty of replies from those who know as little about your post as , with all due and huge respect , Chinatown .

My point is, he may not have been aware there's opportunities that close to home in Ft. Worth.

Good point; better to have several options to choose from.

Wish I'd had all this information and TTR website available when I started; could have retired years sooner.

I'm not jumping on any wagon.... trying to go pretty much the opposite actually.

And recruiters are not to be trusted either due to being ill informed or just plain crooked.

Trying to get the straight info on this deal, before getting into a phone call or process that could create even more hard feelings.

You can do your own google search for details.

But these were not flunkies... these were Veterans that showed up in good faith, were processed, at the school... and then last minute after the ball was rolling found out for one reason or another... they were not getting some or all of the cost covered. AS ADVERTISED!

Now the info was 8 months or older.. so I am here hoping to find out more.

And my post is Labeled 'IS IT' not 'IT IS'

Let me send a message to a good friend of mine there in PHX who is a DM and his wife is a recruiter. I will get the real skinny for you. Last that I heard, Veterans get a full scholarship.
