Iv been trying to get Cozad to build me a CA legal triaxle for almost a year now, they won't send me a drawing to the exact measurements that I want. I think they realized they would loose a lot of business if the made the trailer I want. Most folks who have a 16 tire and an air tail would have a two in one with my spec and would only need one trailer.

Cozad, Rackley and Murray all make CA legal tri axles. What specs are you looking for? Why would you want to put an air tail on a 16-tire? Thats a lot of extra weight and 90% of the freight you haul with it hops over the back

    And that's just it, I wouldn't want one on a 16 tire, I want one on a 3 axle.
80% of our best paying stuff is rolling stock! the air tail is awesome for this. As for the excavators it's nice to have a hydro nock out neck.

Have you checked out Murray? If you go on their website they have a drawing of their tri-axle, its called the interstate. I think the problem with putting an air tail on a tri axle is that they are already 48' trailers with 22' main deck. There is no where to put a 6' air tail. The 16 tire and 8 tire trailers share the same frame which is a 42' trailers so putting a 6' air tail on still keeps you under 48' and cal legal. Cant put that on a 48' trailer because you will have a 54' long trailer and 44' kp to rear axle and thus, not CA legal. Not to mention that trailer would be somewhere in the neighborhood of 22,000lbs with a hydraulic neck. Way heavy!!!!! My suggestion would be to contact XL Specialized Trailer. They can build you a tri axle lowbed with a hydraulic neck and something they call a power tayl. By the way we are connected on LinkedIn. Im Turner & Sons Trucking
