Im currently driving for prime reefer division to get my cdl I was going to switch to their flatbed division but I think im going to go tanker instead. And I have a few questions I want to switch companies after get my cdl. I dont know if prime is considered as a driving school so would other tanker companies hire me with just a cdl? So far on my list I have service transport and Miller transporters

You don't have a CDL and you're pulling reefer for Prime?

Please clarify. You are driving for Prime? Or are you training and do not yet have a CDL?

You want to get some experience first. Do your year after training, and then start applying for a position.

I take my test to get my cdl in the morning. Before I came to prime I wanted to pull tankers so the recruiter told me I will be home every other weekend. Now when I get here and start asking questions I found out I will be lucky if I can get home once a month. And the same thing with flatbed. That's why I been going back and forth about switching companies after my test

You'll owe Prime a pile of money if you don't hold up your part of the bargain. Something else... it's highly unlikely that anyone will hire you to pull tankers with zero experience.

    baha Thanks this.

Those tanker companies you mentioned & none I know of, will hire you with just a CDL. They all want formal 160 hr. schooling. Go with Prime tanker then switch over after about 6-12 months; the other companies will take you then.

Stay there for a year before you jump.right now you don't know enough to switch. Hang in there, pay your dues it won't be any better any where else for the first year.

Miller Transporters won't touch you without 2 yrs experience.
As was previously advised... You're best bet will probably be to stick it out with Prime until you get experience. I believe Prime's tanker division does only food grade loads but it's still tanker experience.
