and watch out for workers walking around with their heads down on construction sites..
don't laugh, I almost pancaked more than one who weren't paying attention.. -
I've been in it for quite a while myself. I enjoy what I do, have made many good friends, and have made a good life for myself. I've had many of the same challenges as the rest of the guys. Ice, snow high winds, driving rain, and what ever else Mother Nature or utility companies, government, and homeowners can dish out. But, the worst part of this profession, and it is a profession, are the four wheelers or any other vehicle who doesn't know enough or care enough to be cautious or courtious. I would love to drag anyone of these idiots around with me for a week to see what we have to put up with. Even a week wouldn't be enough time, but they might get the drift.
Tall Mike Thanks this. -
Worst part of the job is dealing with guys who buy old mega carrier trucks and a equally crappy trailer. The trucks are all worn out and they don't repair anything . It makes all dirt haulers look bad...

Thanks for the input. Do you see a lot of 40' dump wagons in construction sites?
-
For us it all depended on what was needed and how much..
We used tri axel dumps a lot but if a large amount of material was needed then we ran the trailers (if they fit)..
Our demolition work was pretty much all dump trailer for the most part.. -
Three ways to unload a dump trailer, left, right and rear.
Seriously, as the members have said, PAY ATTENTION and take your time. Watch the body as it raises. If it is starting to lean, set it down and do something diffrent(reposition trailer, etc).
Everyone has their own method of dumping. I watch the piston in the doghouse. If the body leans at all, you will see it there. the piston will show the lean, favoring one side of doghouse.
And don't be proud, as previously said, ask the veteran drivers on the job.
And as said, watch the by standers. People love to stand beside the trailer as it dumps, being part of the action I suppose. I have 100 % confidence that trailer will dump with ease, but I still don't allow people to stand beside the truck(I don't understand the need to stand beside a dump trailer as it goes up).
Gone on long enough here, best wishes with the new job...Tall Mike and Second Gear Thank this. -
Just want add make sure you plastic the trailer on every load you can , especially if your going into a land fill
