If highways are good opportunities for truckers, then they are also good opportunities for anyone. They are often poorly lit, there's no business cameras, and unless there's an accident right at that spot there's never anyone just walking around the woodline to see anything deposited. To suspect truckers is a leap.

I will buy that a trucker could be responsible. But in reality, they are not the only people that frequent a truck stop. It could very well be a 4 wheeler.

there are 4-wheelers crusin the rows of the TS all the time. usually sellin' stuff jewlery, radio stuff you name it...they al have their sob stories and just want your money ....they cn stand at the fuel desk and watch a driver get a cash advance...follow them out to the truck and it can happen.......

I think it is fear mongering by the FBI. They are posturing the public so they can increase regulation and scrutiny on driver's. I would bet that statisticly the percentage of serial killer truck drivers is the same, or lower, than for society as a whole. We are an easy target.

I would think that a truck being in the area of a body drop would stand out more than a car would.
Imagine the problem of moving a body out of a big rig and to the ground.
I would lean more to the 4 wheeler. -
I saw a little snippet on Fox News last week about a truck driver being a serial killer suspect. Never saw a story on it, though.

My only question is why just not call it a national homicide task force and leave the truckers out of it. I would guess their are several persons responsible for all these crimes but they could be sales people, construction workers, agriculteral workers or any more of a dozen or so occupations that frequently travel. Why classify this as a trucker crime?

It doesn't surprise me one bit that truckers would be responsible for killing or raping people along the highways. In fact I would suspect truckers more than anyone. My father always said that he thought a lot of these girls who went missing were taken by truckers. One of the reasons he didn't encourage me to get into trucking because he knew the kind of people that were out there. He was a trucker for 30 years, so I'm sure he saw his share of s*** on the road.
Trucking is an easy job for lowlifes to get into. Think about it, you generally don't need a fixed address. I mean, look around at the people you see at the truckstops. I have met my share of scary truckers out there. There are truckers out there buying drugs at truckstops and running around with ######, I wouldn't put it past them to kill one of these girls and dump her body, then take off down the road.
It's not picking on truckers, it's just reality.melanie Thanks this.
