The data center that hosts our server experienced technical issues earlier this evening, causing us and many other sites to go offline for ~1 hour. I haven't heard any word about what caused this issue, but it appears that they've solved it.

Good. Don't let it happen again. ;)

A semi-similar question, on a related topic: Why is it that occasionally I try to read a thread that's suggested in the "related" bar on the right side, but when I click on it, it goes to a screen that asks me for a password . . Yet, I'm already logged in! Then, after RE-submitting my password, it still won't go to that thread?!?!?

    Thanks!!

G13 you were redirected to a part of the site the mods still havent fixed when linking. Usually the thread has been moved to "Politics". The password there is "thickskin". The problem is, while many of us have told our browsers that we know the pass word and it has been saved to our machine, when we are directed to politics the link doesnt take us directly there and acts like a user login.

Try instead to navigate directly to politics and login for that forum directly. It always has been a issue with the board that still has not been fixed yet.

That's likely an accurate explanation for what you're experiencing, G13Tomcat. You're being redirected to a password-protected area of the site and you're trying to enter your account password, when that's not what it's asking for. Use the password that LTD mentioned and you should be able to access those areas.

I'm not sure why LTD is having the issue he describes, though. Once you enter the password, and as long as you don't clear cookies, you should be redirected every time. I'm not aware of it being something that isn't working that hasn't been fixed. Is anyone else having that issue?
