Even 45ft. trailers are getting harder to load, if you have a reg. load that will fit on a 40ft. without breaking the bridge laws you will have trouble finding a diff. load on next trip, 45ft. will be a better buy then you can trade up later to 48ft. or if you have hit it hard and found a reg. run buy whatever you need to get by?

You should look at bridge law (google bridge calculator ) they have it all maped out. I could have used a shorter trailer but to bridge I had to buy a 48' spred with rear axle all the way to rear.

The 40 foot is usually the lead on an A-train.

I was poking around a load board today-one caught my eye, in the comments it said "trailer must 40' or shorter" first and only time I ever saw a call for that.
If you have a customer that will work for: better be fairly local work. -
Where I live 45' trailers predominate because of the 65' OA length limit. I'm not sure how many shippers would have an issue with a 40'
