Guess I'll try the Flents Super Sleep Comfort Foam Ear Plugs then... or actually it looks like the sleeping type are shorter, for laying on your side, so I'll find some full length ones that won't get stuck in there.
Because my mom went to a hearing specialist, and let me know that it's common for truckers to encounter hearing loss in the left ear (from excessive noise through an open window).
Gonna wear the set though, for that relentless squealing wind through either window (somehow my mind blocks it out most of the time, but it is pretty loud when I think about it).
The other thing is that after listening to chamber music for a while, which is a "musical conversation", with classical instruments mimicking voices, I became accustomed to interpreting this, and noticed there was also a histrionic quality to the sound of tires flying by, so then sometimes I hear phrases out of random noise, like people are exclaiming things as they drive past... well maybe they are, especially if they honk too. I wonder if that noise causes hysteria in general and if this is why poeple drive like bats out of hell.Last edited: Sep 30, 2016

Since the AOSafety Sleep/Rest Ear Plugs are no longer available I have found a new favorite that is 99% as good as the AOSafety plugs. These are Hearos Xtreme Protection with A NRR of 33, which is better tha the AOSafety plugs. I can find them on Amazon, Walmart, and Kroger grocery stores. 14 pair for about $5. They are blue soft foam. Buy some and use them to save your hearing.

You should take your experience in stride.
What is really bad is discrimination from hearing people against the deaf. There were times Ive explained carefully and with small simple words how we deaf do trucking and that one bad driver does not mean all of us are bad drivers. To Bosses.
Frankly I stand tall, I did everything I wanted to do in life deaf or not and they can go jump in a lake for having a problem with it. My biggest asset was sign language as taught in my mind, I can condense a thinking problem really fast with 2 to 4 options in the last few seconds to a smash and decide how to fix it. fast. Thinking in ordinary written english is too slow.tscottme Thanks this. -
