App aims to stem truckers' turnover
snip (link has full story):
Finding ways to retain quality truck drivers is an ongoing challenge for an industry that typically has a turnover rate of 90 percent or more.
But Arkansas native Max Farrell believes he and Andrew Kirpalani have developed a tool to help trucking companies keep drivers in their seats.
The two are co-founders of a trucking industry app called WorkHound, a product designed to serve as a line of communication between drivers and their employers. The app allows drivers to share their experiences anonymously. The data is collected and aggregated for the company, providing insight into the thoughts and concerns of drivers.

While it would probably be hilarious to read some of the messages from drivers, not really sure how this would curtail high driver turnover. Most of these company executives and owners already know why it is the way it is. People don't leave GOOD jobs regularly. These are not good jobs. Years ago it wasn't so bad living on the road, but it is getting worse and worse every year. The solution these companies have come up with is just to find cheaper labor. They are working their way towards it day by day.

There's this FREE APP called "Take Care Of Your People And Your People Will Take Care Of You"
Doesn't cost a thing and works remarkably well.
Funny thing is - it's been available for years and no one has yet to down load it.......NavigatorWife, tucker and Canned Spam Thank this. -
If the only way you can "make a statement" is to quit then having a "suggestion box" on your phone won't do much good.
For the mega training companies to retain 'new' drivers - be conservative in promises to rookies, train them well, be up front on the challenges and support them better in the first 90 days. As a side note I would love to see the 'reputable' training companies turn over rates excluding those who don't make it to the 90 day mark.
For 'experienced drivers' - maintain the equipment, pay a fair wage, listen when a driver talks, follow thru on promises made. It's really not that difficult.
Drivers also need to be realistic. Too many expect to make $60 k a year driving 300.miles a day, no touch freight, with a helper monkey to.fuel, couple, etc.NavigatorWife and stormy379 Thank this.
