APU Inverter 2 hour limit?

if you are drawing off the batteries when the apu is charging them i guess it burns out the alt... it doesnt cut all the power on the truck just anything plugged in that is 110 volt. and just for a few minutes while it resets. This is being blown way out of proportion. but then again its a blog

 

If the inverter is the problem, why install them? Just install the apu. then everything is 12 volts.

Being I saw this thread going into more speculation I figured that I would get word straight from the horses mouth(maintenance).

Just spoke to one of them, he confirmed the 2 hour time limit with 10 hour reset. He said that he wasn't sure about which it was tho, 2 hours within a 12 hour period, or 2 hours with a solid 10 hour reset.

He said the reason is to protect the batteries and the apu. The apu will still run in its normal fashion, just the inverter is different. He stated that the inverter itself is about half the physical mass of the ones we have now, and is red, however more powerful at the same time.

So I guess its a good time to buy stock in smaller inverters that plug into cig lighters. Only thing that I have that won't run off a cig lighter inverter is my microwave....so I could live with it.

Lol I had to buy my own truck to get one.. and on the inverter. Its just the inverter resets not the apu. What's more important. Apu to heat and cool your truck and help from getting jumpstarts or playing video games for 6 hrs or choosing a company based on how much u can use a big enough inverter to run all ur toys? If you answered the latter.. you may wanna rethink your career choice.. just saying.. or buy ur own inverter for 300 bucks and have them wire it in.

 

does anybody know how many cig lighter ports there are in roehl trucks?

 

Depends on the truck. 4 in the freightliner and I think 2 or 3 in the international.

 

I have an International and there is five. Also if you have them install an inverter the size limit is 1000 watts.
