I recently had an interview with a local beer/beverage delivery company that has a pretty good track record of service. I am a recent grad with no experience. The interview was basically the guy showing me the new facility that was being built and getting to know me. After the tour he said that he is going to offer me a job.
I am to call tomorrow and set up my drug screen and such. (Paper work I guess)
Question is, is this a good starting position to get experience? Pay is better than Im at now by 2 more dollars an hour and increases decently in 6 months and more with more time. Start at 6 am and finished when I'm done with deliverys. 5 days a week.
and also, are there any benefits to working at a beer company?
thanks!

Definitely a good job for certain experience, You'll get to know how to maneuver in spots that trucks werent meant to be. Also a great job on the physical factor of things. Look at it as a free gym membership. As for benefits, you can go home after work reaking like beer and honestly tell your wife youre sober as a judge!
road_runner Thanks this. -
True story! I actually factored the gym thing in to my pay haha. Monthly gym membership thanks to coors light! My pants have gotten a bit snug over these winter months!

I hear you man! I drove for a foodservice outfit for 4 years and took a linehaul job 2 years back. I started gaining weight the first month....only thing i miss about that kind of work is getting paid to stay in shape....tough on the old knees after a while though..

Hope you ain't doin kegs. Gotta go up or down stairs with them. Their heavy as F! If you can do foodservice instead I would, cause it's whole lot easier.

I use to know a guy that delivered Budweiser locally.
Any case, half-rack that had a rip in the box was to be discarded.
He didn't drink beer but the rest of us hooligans did.
We had a seemingly endless supply of suds.
That was a long time ago so maybe they don't allow anyone to take them home anymore. -
Local Delivery like that can be fun. I run a ice truck hand cart 34,000 pounds a day. I've been doing it for two years now. Lost 50 pounds my first there. Puts you in shape thats for sure. Only advice I would give you is make sure you know how your going to get out the tiny party store parking lot before entering it. To this day I still look at the truck in the parking lot and wonder how it was physically possible to get it in the parking lot to begin with.

Budweiser is one of the better beverage companies to work for. They load their bays correct by the route. You will lose weight and build some big leg calves from 2 wheelin'. All beverage drivers do. Plus you meet a lot of woman! It's a fun job for a young person. It's not a dead end job either. You stick with it 8-10 years they might move you up in to management making $$$$$$.

1st, congrats on landing a gig right away. Lot's of drivers are screaming for a local job that pays, you're already there. For a young guy it is going to be a great job.
