I have been offered an orientation date by boyd. They say on their website (and the Recruiter) that if you are out for a week you get 24hours off. I guess I could live with that. I am however trying to understand how a company can be voted in the top 20 two or three years in a row and only get a driver home for 24 hours. So what is the draw to Boyd. Their benefits and pay are comparable to the other two companies I am talking with, so help me out Boyd drivers. What makes you like Boyd????

Anyone know how their L/P program is? What are the truck payments? fixed cost etc?
-
Not real sure didn't make it to that level

HOme time isn't that bad.. It depends on where u live mostly... I know of many drivers that get home every weekend. Get home Friday night leave monday morning... IT all depends on weather u go home loaded or not.. U may need to leave Sunday night to make your monday delivery. It also depends on your fleet manager. WHen i was hired i was told i would have to be out for 2 weeks. My FM tries to get me home every weekend though. I can and have asked to stay out for 2-3 weeks. ITs all up to you and your realationship with your FM

where are you out of?

I actually live outside the official recruiting area..... I live just north of Milwaukee

They will try there best to get you home, but sometimes it's not so easy.
32cpm for newbies, get 1 million and they'll bump ya to 42cpm. You'll get a truck that has gone through hell more than once, no worries, new shiny ones are being filtered into the fleet. Hell, if your out of Ohio I might end up has your trainer! We are getting new and shiny trailers, straps, trucks, and chain binders. If you meet Jason tell him a undisclosed person said "G'day million dollar video game owner!"
The basics they'll cover are the log books, maybe. They'll tell you that "If you must, cheat everything but a fuel stop."
PM me for further questions.
The L/P program can use some improvement, but it's not bad if you know what you go into.Last edited: Aug 30, 2012

They started me at 39cpm fresh out of school with no experience
-
So they bumped it up?
I joined in 1997... so... LOL -
It's good to read some positive things about Boyd Brothers. They told me they'd start me at .43/mile and "try" to get me home on the weekends. The lady on the phone also mentioned a sign on bonus. Do they have much freight in Michigan? I want to talk to some of their drivers on the CB but I can't seem to find them!
