Im picking up some pipe loads in houston and they require carpeted dunnage and chocks(I assume that is wheel chocks?) So i took some time this weekend and made some…..all I did was lay a strip of carpet on my dunnage(the full length of the 4x4) and stapled it……anyone ever done this? Or have experience with shippers in houston with this requirement…….They also require pipe stakes but, I will buy them from the shipper.
Carpetted dunnage…..

chocks are going to be for the pipe and not the wheels.

^^^^^LOL!!!!
lurking to see what transpires...is that what they wanted? carpeting inside the straps? Carpet roll instead of lumber?
Or exactly as you did it!!

You gotta figure they got stuff there, possibly a racket!!! lolLast edited: Oct 4, 2015

Ok i googled pipe chocks….I guess its kinda a wedge on the edge of the pipe…...

A shipper was charging big$ for each for chocks another driver reported last week? glue works better to hold it on to wood or only use staples on sides not on top, if pipe rolls off loader on to your boards and staples are on top of board your pipe will have a skinned off coating where it slid on the staples?

Whats the alternative to pipe chocks then, carry a whole bunch of wedges?????? Thats prob not possible…. How many chocks are we talking per load??

CK. if you can see how big your pipe will be that will tell how many needed?
