Is it working that much better cause its top loaded..Coulda sworn someone said the fibreglass ant is so inefficient..The mid load in rabbis pic aint gonna work on something like the prostars, volvos, cascadias type cab are they??..
Im friggin stumped why i cant get my impedence down..On 26.965 its in the high 40's but climbs to low
60's at 27405 on my mfj...My 10k resonates almost perfectly between 1-19 but after 27.185 that climbs to around 10-11..My swr stays between 1.1 - 1.3 my coefficient of reflection is in the low to mid 20's(db) till about 27.200 ish then it drops to high teens...
Bonded the doors to cab,any suggestions boys??

I'd give that one a try.

8ft would hit on the I-55 RR bridge in Memphis I'm thinking. It would be right about 14ft.....it might sneak through if you were in the right lane, but barely if at all. I know a 5x5 Francis mounted on the air line support will whack the bridge and shatter, a 5ft will clear though.

Craig sez what is your reading at 27.205 since 50 ohms is the target. Some have suggested the mfj 259b I have may not be the most accurate tool for the job. I like it better than a regular swr meter because it's easier to dial the antenna in for me. At 27.185 I got a 53 ohm reading 1.4 swr if I remember correctly and I may not.

    Atm my #'s might be a tad off but at 27.185 r= 60,x=0 swr 1.1.....27.205 r=60,x=0 swr 1.1..
I literally have trucks parked on either side and one in front so that might change the outcome a lil..

I caught wind that there is a mfj shop in houston but i was long gone before i found out..

The MFJ is accurate the day it is calibrated, but temperature changes affect the accuracy.

Gonna order some fresh coax with amphonol ends when i get home in a cpl days..
The other day i was kinda shocked as i drove past the fj in carlisle pa...I did hear the cb man for 20 mi...Had a laugh sat night..His antenna man was on the radio smoozin a woman..I asked him "how does cb man tune when he doesnt have gear in his van..I said i saw him open up a cobra, turn a few pots and ask for a radio chk..Then charged $45 to a buddy of mine..Antenna man said "he knows what he is doin"..Ilaughed....I said same way you tune antennnas with a cheap barjan swr meter ,next to buildings and other trucks??
Another fella asked antenna man what kinda radio cause he never saw his meter pegged before..I laughed cause they were only a 100-200 meters apart on a clear quiet night..

Bob at exit 70 probably gets out about 20 miles from the top of his Mountain with his big antenna way up in the air but I've never heard any of his mobile customers reach out that far
