Hi everyone!
I am currently applying for acceptance for tuition assistance with Conway Truckload.
I chose Conway because my husband drives for them. We want to team up & since I do not have any experience I will have to attend a school. I have driven motorcyles, forklifts, ATVs, boats, sticks, which I know does not compare with semi's but I am eager to learn.
My cost of this is $2200.
This includes my CDL, hotel room, food (I think 2 to 3 meals a day), bus to Joplin.
I was told this fee of $2200 includes everything.
First I have to turn in my past 3 years of work history with any tickets or driving related incidents I have had.
I am just beginning this phase. I want to work on the paperwork first because I know I DO NOT want to get there and be pulled because something turned up that was a surprise to Conway. I want it to be clear before I leave and pay $2200 out of my pocket. Hopefully there will be no surprises.
Wish me luck.
I will post every time I gather new information and move along in this process.
If you have any tips please share.

Conway still use crowder college? If so the instructors there are awesome good program they have there if they still have the skid pad you will defiantly enjoy that part was the highlight for me when I did the 1 week crash course with them.....best of luck to you
ps actually thing about going back to Conway myself just not sure if I'm ready to leave the family again -
Yes they still use Crowder. I am very excited. I start July 29th and Conway prequalified me so there won't be any paper work to worry about once I begin. That is a big relief!
mje Thanks this. -
Welcome aboard.
Conway will be a good choice.
Crowder did me well, but that was over 21 years ago, lol.
Conway has a well thought out training program.
Will your husband be your finisher?mje Thanks this. -

Yes my husband will be my finisher. He is already telling me how hard is going to be on me
I think it's payback for all the years I nagged at him. LOL JK I know he will show me everything I need to know to be safe and timely.

Barbie Q, I hope you will keep us all posted as you progress through the training. I spoke with a Con-way recruiter today for the first time. They have been at the top of my list for companies that hire inexperienced drivers. I also require some tuition assistance. I am a veteran, and should be able to get at least a portion of the tuition covered. I put a call in to the VA advisor at Crowder today, but had to leave a message. Hopefully they will get back with me tomorrow. I would like to be in training at Crowder by the middle to end of August. The cost of the training seems really reasonable for five full weeks, with housing and most expenses included. I also really like the fact that they pair you with a "finisher" that gives you all the driving while they are awake and in the seat next to you. This company seems to have their ducks in a row better than most of the other companies. I think that first tough year of driving may be a little easier at Con-way if they are indeed as well run as they seem to be.

I spoke with the recruiter today.
She has ran my MVR's for every state I have lived in. They came back clean.
She has went over the last 3 years of my work history.
Now I must (in this order)
Pay for myself and obtain a DOT Physical
Pay for myself and obtain a CDL Permit in the state I live in
Fill out my application for Crowder College online providing this information
All DOT Physicals must be done by a physician/office that frequently does DOT Physicals
Your chiropractor or family doctor is not acceptable.
I must bring with me to Crowder my Marriage Certificate, Birth Certificate, Social Security Card, Driver's License and or State ID, DOT Physical Card, and CDL Permit.mje Thanks this.
