I do calculate the cpm on each particular load as a factor in determining whether I will accept the load. I also consider the amount of FSC, deadhead miles (which are unpaid) and the freight area.

There are a number of factors you have to take into account when determining whether a load is profitable for you.

You have to make the right decision on whether or not to accept the load because they WILL sometimes offer you a load that you will lose money on. If you blindly accept the loads they send you, you will be wondering why you ran your ### off all week and have a negative check.

So if you gross 6000 an run 5400 miles you made 1.11 a mile

On a load by load basis, yes.

I do not look at gross per week divided by total miles for the week. That tells me nothing. I do the calculation on each load before I decide whether to accept it or not.

That tells you your average CPM? How does that tell you nothing ?

Because I calculate profit on a load by load basis, as I am paid a percentage of the line haul (just like you will be).

The total lumped together overall cpm for the week is not a number that I find useful. If you stay in the weekly total cpm mindset, you will fail. It simply is not the important number in this kind of lease.

    You're pulling $1500 a week as a trainer?

More like 2. I told the OP 1500 because that's what he is looking at until he figures out what he's doing.

I have been reading the 5-page info packet on L/O that was emailed me from CRST and have read some interesting facts on average mileage possible. So my big question is:
Can a solo L/O realistically achieve 3000/week? I am not factoring in days I would be home as I would run 4 - 6 weeks before going home for a few days.

No. CRST does not have enough solo freight to give you 1500-2000 miles a week, much less 3000.

Why would someone be out for 4 to 6 weeks but only run 1500 to 2000 miles per week? I run mostly load board freight home on weekends and holidays and usualy 1x during the week. Average 2200 miles a week legal.

    Not with crst though.
