Just starting getting these codes about a week ago. No other issues. 2007 Kenworth T600, Cummins ISX.

    They come in pairs:
Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Valve #1 Mechanism
    Mechanical system not responding properly
    128/146/7

Engine Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Valve Control
Mechanical System Not Responding Or Out Of Adjustment
    0/2791/7

EGR Valve Dirty? EGR Position Sensor? Actuator?

    Thanks.

Sounds like either the EGR valve actuator going out or a dirty/sticking EGR valve.

My thoughts, too. Is it all one unit or can they be disassembled?

    It's serviced as a unit.

EGR valve likely failed. Usually see them stuck open. Valves are not serviceable. Make sure to have your ECM calibration level checked. There have been many software updates to help with reliability and increase valve longevity.

You can take EGR out and clean it. sometime it helps.

    One more question.
When codes are ON, immediately after key is ON or while driving ?
If while driving or engine running (not right after key is ON) there is a big chance you have J1939 problem.
Cummins ECM use J1939 (twisted pair yellow and green wires) to communicate with turbo actuator, EGR actuator, vehicle ECM, transmission. Every key ON ECM commands EGR to perform self calibration strokes. If there is no codes at this time actuator is probably OK. Take EGR out, clean it, check electrical plug.
Also check ECM electrical plugs. Do you like to wash engine with pressure washer?

Code comes on when under heavy load. Driver does the same route every day and I know from the route when he's going to get the code because there's a couple of big hills there.

It's the original EGR Valve - 7 years old and 1.2 million miles.

I'm going to replace it. I'll take a look at old one and see how crusty it is. Is there a way to test the old one outside of the engine - by applying voltage to the actuator leads?

The video is of a CM871 ISX with DPF. The OP has a CM870 EGR only. He has a different valve which is on the other side of the engine.
tallmon, I would call Cummins and ask if there is any sort of prize, because one of their original EGR valves lasting 7 years must be some sort of record!!! Congratulations! LOL!

I'll have to double check this weekend when I take it out.
