Has anyone who has "faile" as a lease operator or owner operator taken in to consideration that fuel managment is a HUGE part of the sucess/fail rate? I met so many drivers complaining about not getting enough pay and filling up both their tanks everytime they fueled...when i was an O/O i fueled one side at a time and ran the miles as much as i could off one tank vs 2 tanks

Probably more of a money management issue coupled with rediculously cheap unprofitable rates. Running around on empty tanks seems kind of foolish. You're going to need and burn that fuel sooner or later anyways. You're just as well to keep the tanks topped up. It's costing the same regardless.

With the current age of knuckleheads who handle all manner of business BESIDES getting fuel while parked in fuel islands, seems to me it's better to avoid such place for as long as one can.
