Need to swap out 60 series 12.7. Does anyone know if DD15 motor mounts will align to my FLD120 frame? and will it fit under the hoood?
Also, I hear everyone talk about crate motors, where can one shop for one? Are they complete, or are they literally just the block? In Ca, so no choice in the matter.

Buy a dd15 equipped truck the cost of converting and adding emission equipment to make it run will cost you darn near the price of a new truck unless you find a wreck and do all the work yourself .. Just changing the wiring alone will be a huge expense

I did find a wrecked one, but cant tell if the motor mounts will align on the frame, was looking to see if anyone might know the answer to that? And if all the components fit under under the FLD hood? I found a company in Oregon , who makes the wiring harnesses.

As far as I know the DD15 will not fit in the Classic without mods. If your in CA and already registered just buy a rebuilt 60. Otherwise trade yours in for a CA compliant truck.

It's an FLD120, yes I'm in Ca, and only have 100K miles on my rebuilt 60. In ca you can't have anything older than a 2010 engine(regardless of engines condition).Getting rid of a rebuilt 12.7 is not by choice, so financially it makes more sense to swap out the engine, then purchasing a an over priced truck. But need more info to proceed, will motor mounts match, axle lines align etc...

What year is your 12.7? If 1996 or newer, you can retrofit a dpf and keep running...

You should do more research. You can have older. @double yellow has a thread on this I believe. If you live in Cali it's probably a good read.

The retrofit is only good until the year 2021, at which point the retrofit will be useless and everything on the road has to be 2010 engine or newer. The retrofit cost as much as the wrecked truck 17K. I'd rather spend 17 now to be good for ever, and not a band aid.

True, unless they offer extensions which I think it likely given their history.

But I wouldn't expect a 2010 engine to be "good forever" -- your only guarantee is that it will be legal through 2023. Given the recent executive order requiring 40% fewer greenhouse gas emissions by 2030, I wouldn't be surprised to see that 2010 engine outlawed in 2024 or 2025 at which point they'll want natural gas or electric hybrid or something...

Either way I'm interested to follow your progress.
