I know you have a dispatcher and a district manager but how often do you speak to these people or see them? Most of the communication is done through the qualcomm right?
Do you have a boss in this career?

You should insist as much official communication as possible be through the QC. I have spoken to my FM's supervisors a lot during my career. My last company my FM's boss was a great lady named Martha who did the truck assignments.

At a larger [mega] carrier, (where most new drivers will begin their careers) you have a few "bosses" and a number of others looking at your performance. Operations boss, fleet manager boss, safety boss, shop boss, etc. That said, there is still a lot of autonomy as long as you do the job and don't turn into the driver that has to be monitored 24/7 to insure you get the freight delivered in a timely manner. Some places have more monitoring and contact with the driver then others.
About the only time I talk with someone directly over the phone is if they need me to do a load swap with another driver, otherwise they leave me alone and I leave them alone (as long as they keep the loads coming)1278PA Thanks this. -
