In the last few weeks I've seen 2 drivers at fuel pumps get locked out of their truck because of their dog inside while the driver was outside. Both ended up buying a lock pick kit and I'm unsure how those worked out.
Don't they keep a spare key always in their pocket or hidden in the frame somewhere? Doesn't somebody make some sort of "anti-lockout hood" for lock buttons in common trucks?

Now if I could only keep my dog from using the CB while I'm inside...
Dna Mach, KillingTime, Saturday and 4 others Thank this. -
Geez I sometimes had 3 keys

The dog thing happens, not everyone keeps extra keys.
Not sure, but I don't think it can happen in a newer Volvo, other makes, other than Freightliner, where it can happen easily, especially with power locks or a hyper dog, your experience should be posted.
I keep a key hidden in the truck and accessible, and some more on me in the watch pocket of my jeans. -
One stays in the ignition, one on my keychain, and one hidden somewhere on the underside of my truck. If I'm ever out of my truck not within 50yds of it AND line of sight, it's locked.

I don't drive anymore but I still have a Volvo key and a shaker key

Put a key on your boot. You'll never be locked out again. Or if you are, you've got bigger issues - like why the beck did you get out of your truck without shoes?
KillingTime and not4hire Thank this. -
VERY FIRST thing I did with any new truck is get extra keys cut, hide one on the truck and keep one on me. A howling blizzard in Wyoming at night or -40 in the Canadian sub-arctic is no time to find out you're locked out.
passingthru69 Thanks this. -
Two things.
Get an extra key made.
Put the dog in a crate.
