I have a cobra 25 ltd classic basic cb. Had it for about 9 months and it will blow fuses no matter +- wire or 12 v plug. I suspecting something blew inside my cobra. Should I fix it or considering buy a new better CB.

I use to have an older radio and took it to a repair shop, that's when the guy told me it would cost more to fix than buy new.

Being a Cobra 25...think I would just buy a new one... may end up costing as much to fix that one as it wold to just get another one.

Well if you are blowing fuses there is only a couple things that it can be, one is a diode inside the radio that has been blown, it is there for the protection of the radio itself and really most likely the problem.

Most shops, if you want to call them shops will just sell you a radio and make more in the sale than it costs to fix it. The cost really is 4 minutes worth of time excluding the time it takes to take the covers off and 50¢ worth of a diode.

It's that common problem with diodes?

The diode is there to save the board if you hook the power wires up backwards or if you hook up too many volts. If you go much over 15v you can blow the diode.
