Regulators and industry executives who cast a deaf ear on the word "freedom" coming from drivers, which I would guess they pretty much all do all the time---especially lately what with all the heavy regulation that's been coming down the pike---do this at great risk to their own objective which is namely to make our highways as safe as they can be. Restricting our freedom as adults to choose when we drive and when we sleep does not make our highways any safer or attract any newcomers to our profession. Regulators and execs like to think it does---as unfortunately do a great many drivers out there as well---but the reality is it only serves to make highways less safe and help to guarantee a perpetual shortage of drivers.
