I have a freightliner columbia with Mercedes Benz engine.

My truck gives an occasional error and shows CHECK ENGINE and STOP signals, which intermittently appear, then after a while go away. All the while the truck drives well.

I read codes today with a code reader. It gave error SPN 111 low coolant. We made sure that coolant is at normal level in coolant tank. And yet this error is reported. Would you say that, possibly, I need to replace coolant sensor? Any good thoughts? Thanks!

Usually the plug that goes into the sensor goes bad. Sensor needs to be checked with vom meter also.

Thanks. What would you do, clean the plug or something?
