Thanks, I'll ground it to the chassis and try again.

Can't use wire to ground it you gotta use a braided ground strap.
dhawkins01 Thanks this. -

Based on this youtube video, I was thinking that the 9.0 on the meter might have been OK, but obviously the radio still isn't working. The radio also has a distinct clicking going on in the audio that is coming out of it.

9 what?
9 ohms?
9000 ohm?
Do you know how to check for accuracy?
If you get 9 ohms, it sends up a flag about accuracy.rabbiporkchop Thanks this. -
I didn't check the setting, just know it was running 9.0 on the digital screen. I'll do it again and take a picture of it later today.

Think of the spring as a hot wire.
There should be no connection between that spring and the body or frame of the vehicle.
Whichever Bolt was used to mount the bracket to the body of the vehicle should be grounded to the vehicle with that braided ground strap and you should see 0 ohms From that bolt to the Body and Frame of the vehicle.
I hope this image helps

I have added a braided strap to the bottom stud of the mount and grounded it to the chassis. Still can't get below 6 on the swr. See new pic
