Must be zero ohms before proceeding further

Thanks, I'll ground it to the chassis and try again.

Can't use wire to ground it you gotta use a braided ground strap.[IMG]

Hey guys, I'm re-reading this thread... Tell me where I'm wrong, or if I'm the first to catch this. The mounting spring becomes part of the antenna, meaning you lengthened the antenna 3"-6". If your out of adjustment, the only way to adjust it further is to remove the cap and slice the plastic shielding enough to pull the wire out from the fiberglass antenna and cut it. But I'm also confused by the 9.0 ohm reading, if I'm correct then it should be infinite, or open.

Based on this youtube video, I was thinking that the 9.0 on the meter might have been OK, but obviously the radio still isn't working. The radio also has a distinct clicking going on in the audio that is coming out of it.

    9 what?

    9 ohms?

    9000 ohm?

Do you know how to check for accuracy?

If you get 9 ohms, it sends up a flag about accuracy.

I didn't check the setting, just know it was running 9.0 on the digital screen. I'll do it again and take a picture of it later today.

Think of the spring as a hot wire.
There should be no connection between that spring and the body or frame of the vehicle.
Whichever Bolt was used to mount the bracket to the body of the vehicle should be grounded to the vehicle with that braided ground strap and you should see 0 ohms From that bolt to the Body and Frame of the vehicle.
    I hope this image helps

I have added a braided strap to the bottom stud of the mount and grounded it to the chassis. Still can't get below 6 on the swr. See new pic 1469900266722-738538907.jpg
