I'm starting to do research on making the jump to O/O. I'm having trouble understanding how a FSC works. Can someone help me in simple terms. Maybe an equation to figure out price per mile needs. I'm including one of the postings I've seen as an example. Thanks in advance
Owner Operator Pay: $.96 per Total Miles
FSC for ALL Dispatch/Round Trip Miles at $1.20 Peg, paid at $.01 per mile, per $.06 increments, based on National DOE.

The way I understand it. The base price of fuel is $1.20 the FSC is one penny for every 6 cent increase of the price of diesel on the National Department of Energy .
IF the fuel price today is $2.50 minus $1,20 =$1.30 divided by 6 equals .217 is the FSC
Your pay (.96 +.21)=1.17 per mile.
Good lucktoledoT Thanks this. -
Why divide by 6?

alot of the companies I've been looking at are paying around a dollar a mile. Some of the big companies I've looked at, the drivers complain about sitting around

I got an email today from
Approx. 2,800 miles per week at $1.23+FSC ALL MILES = $3,920 gross revenue
Good luck with that FSC. -
At the end of the year with all the truck maintenance, breakdowns and all that fun stuff, you probably gonna net as much as company driver

I was just using that job posting as an example. Trying to figure out the whole surcharge thing. I'm still in the saving money, and gathering information phase.
