Just ordered the champion 4000 unit with remote and gona make a template for a window unit , all this idling I'm doin here in hot as hell Texas is nuts .
Had a smaller champion unit years ago that I ran synthetic oil in and flat wore it out before it had oil consumption issues . -
My little Yamaha EF2000 and a window A/C works great for my needs. The Yamaha doesn't even have to operate at full RPM to cover the load. About 8 hrs on a gallon of gas. I made a custom frame for the window out of plywood and covered with reflective insulation that fits nice and snug and I use a $139 window A/C I got at Lowes. Not much more than $1000 for everything and no more than 100 lb total. Quieter than other trucks around me that use APU's. Their APU's sound almost like refer units in comparison to my little Yamaha EF2000.
Generator rides in box and when panels removed from sides, runs right in the box out of weather and secure.

I like cowpie's setup. And I am sure that Jeff Foxworthy and Ron White would approve also.
bzinger Thanks this. -
LMAO! Now I need a dog on the catwalk as a car alarm!
If it was the Tim Allen method, I would have a small nuclear reactor on the frame rail and a Binford 3 ton A/C unit behind the sleeper.Last edited: Jul 11, 2016

I use the same champion unit with a room air conditioner. Just cut 2 6' holes in the floor of the sleeper. Get a dual hose unit if you can aford it. Mine is a single and struggles a little bit over 100deg. I already had it for 6 years now.
4rdtruck, HopeOverMope, Hurst and 3 others Thank this. -
