Looking at used ones. Thoughts and comments. (Coronado) Too long? Too heavy? Probably one with the 12.7 Detroit.

The best way I can think to compare them both is like comparing a 389 vs a 386. Both are basically the same truck,.. one has a longer wheel base and a bit more weight. One looks much better than the other.

You have to know what you need. Where are your priorities at?

Price is about 15-20k right? It all bouls down to personal preference. Both will get the job done, but one will look better and hold value a bit better.
Is 20k worth the better looks and resale? If you plan on dumping the truck in 4-5 years after paying it off then get the Columbia. If it's a long term relationship then the Coronado may be worth the 20k.

I'm looking at 7-8 years before I retire at 61-62. . And probably kind of part time after that. Missus has to work till she's 65 to max out her pension. So So either would work. I lean towards the columbia for the lower initial cost . That way I can be home a bit more.

Yup, about 15-20 k. Not a deal breaker.

You answered your own question. If you are happy with a Columbia then get it. The main difference is looks.

I bet if the stacks were behind the sleeper on a Coronado the fuel mileage would be about equal. Would look strange though. Sounds like OP doesn't care about cool factor. In that case go with the Columbia to get the best bang for buck. Resale value is not going to make up for the savings on fuel and upfront much lower costs of the Columbia.

The Columbia doesn't have the following or the nostalgia of a Pete or W9. I don't think any Freightliner has that great of a resale compared to them.
