I am guessing that trailer weighs a whole lot less than what you are thinking. While the GWV is 14,500, those guys building is allowing for 2 cars plus the weight of the trailer.
Got told to come here cause guys in auto hauler

you need a cdl for any trailer that has a gvwr off 10,001 pounds.
-
I do not need a CDL to operate. My trailer has a GVW of 14,500lbs my truck has GVW of 11,500lbs my combined GVW is less than 26,001lbs I am based out of Ohio and can run throughout the country
DrDieselUSA and brian991219 Thank this. -
14,500 is the gvw or what the trailer is rated for. That accounts for weight of trailer and cargo. The salesman is clueless. I'd seek out a different salesman if you have any spec questions.
That trailer should be around 5000 pounds. -

If I remember, a drw ram 3500 4x4 crew cab 8 foot box is about 8500 pounds. Trailer, call it 6k
8500+6000 is 14500. 26001-14500 is 11,500 pounds. Average car is 3500, so 3500 x 2 is 7000. 8500+6000+7000 is 21,500 pounds. Account a 1000 for fluids, equipment, etc you get 22,500. 3500 under the limit.
Now these are estimates. I recommend calling a dealer and getting a stamp weight for a ram and adding 800 pounds. Getting trailer weight and adding 800 to it.
A cdl is recommended because there may be a load one day that will put you at 30k gross but being plated for 25,999 will make a dot officers wet dream come true.
