Switch will be on top of transmission, may have to remove shifter boot to get to it. Not easy to get to.

there is the switch on top of trans should be able to get to it from back if it is a 13 speed you can jump the terminals and see if the light works if it does then you need to replace swich if not then you have a broken wire or an electrical issue

Start with the simple stuff first. With the transmission in reverse and the key in the on position, first, unplug one reverse lamp. If the other comes on at that point, it tends to point to the reverse lamp switch. If you get nothing, unplug the other... check for broken or excessively corroded plugs at the light.. happens quite often. Check for power at those plugs with a test light... there should be a connector for that entire harness at the back of the frame rail... identify the reverse lamp circuit and check that for power. If you got nothing there, then it would probably be easier to go after the switch and test that... one side of the plug into should be hot, and one won't be. You jump them, and, if you have power at that point, then you know the fault is in the switch. If you don't, then how you proceed will depend on whether the one side is hot or not... if it is, then you'll have to trace the wiring back to the reverse lamps to find the fault. If it isn't, then the fault is somewhere between the power distribution box (fuse/relay panel) and that switch.
Get the simple diagnosis knocked out first, then move on to the more complicated things. Don't just assume.. that's how you end up pissing away money throwing parts at it.

You go through San Antonio? I know some guys there that would put an inspection sticker on anything as long as the paperwork is valid.
