Nothin nasty, just a flammable placard. Can it be parked near a hotel....? Say, 300+ feet from the door in their " truck lot" away from other vehicles and buildings? I know the explosive loads have really stringent rules, but unsure on this class, we have never shut down under a hazmat load before.

    Pull off the placards?
That seems like a bad idea....
    Thanks for the suggestion though.

You're fine. Make sure everything's locked up and that your hazmat docs are visible, usually face up on the driver's seat or dashboard will work.

You are not suppose to leave a hazmat load unattended.

You still can't let the load out of your sight. The right thing to do is sleep in the truck.

The section you quoted talks about when the vehicle is located on a public street or highway, or the shoulder of same. The OP said the truck would be in a hotel parking lot, i.e. not on public street/highway.

And according to this, even if he sleeps in the truck then he's not "attending" it -- he would have to be awake.

Yep, and to add on to his response, a truck stop or motel parking lot is considered a safe haven. I ran cryo in a day cab, sleeping at motels often. As long as the rig is off the road and parked in a designated area like a parking lot or such, it is OK.
