I am about to be a new OO, me and a partner are looking at 2 Kenworths
    1. 2005 T600 450hp ISX 1.1m miles.. Top end has been rebuilt
It surges when u let off the gas pedal like u let off pedal then tap it twice after u let off.
This is empty, haven't drove under load.
    2. 2006 T2000 450hp ISX
    983k miles
    Has push button auto trans
    Runs and drives good.
My partner is very concerned about these ISX engines.
Can I get some opinions please?
    Also price is $18k each
    Ok deal ??
We will driving local pulling belly dumps with sand, gravel and base.
    Thanks from Central Tx

He's a very knowledgable owner-operator that posts on here. The @TripleSix will notify him to check your thread.
    @NorthernMechanic is another good one.

    TripleSix Thanks this.

Morning. I don't know anything about the auto tranny, but if you look on the door jam and post what model transmission, I am sure someone else will be able to tell you all about it. The ISX should be fine.

Planning to do lots of off-road? Axles and suspension info (also listed on the doorjam) would be the deciding factor.

    Thanks for the reply..
My partner read online that the ISX has had tons of trouble.
    Camshaft, EGR etc etc
I personally found the ISX reviews to say some of the same but most that they got good gas mileage.
Of course so many good reviews don't make it online. People tend to write reviews when they are not happy.

Before you do anything, get a mechanic to check them out. Have an OA done for the engine and trans (even for the rear axles), get it on a dyno and see what the engine is like (with a blowby test) and then have the ECM (both the engine and transmission) dump report printed out, not the summary but a full report.

This all should cost about $350 or $400 and will tell you what you are buying is any good.

If you can't afford this, then you should stick to driving for someone else.
