I like the Iron Skillets at Petro's. Especially for a hot breakfast. If I'm runnin & gunnin, a large to go box is definitely the ticket.
I will buy a slice or two of the giant pizza now and again also.
Boils down to your attitude with money I think. You can get plenty of fruits and veggies at a Petro or T/A, but you have to pay for them.
The J and the Pilot or Loves, not so much.
If you get off your ###, usually there is a grocery store within half mile or mile, and you can walk over, and hit their deli and eat for 1/3 of the cost of truck stop.

ExOTR and Warrior Pump Thank this.

By the time that slow petro cook cooks my to go order i can fry up an omelette in the truck, eat it, and be headed down the road. And cost a tenth of the price. An electric skillet is a truck drivers best friend.

one of the last true independent trucks stops left in the country.
Summer / fall months, they grow a good portion of thier own produce, that they use with in their restaurant.

Contrary to popular belief, it doesn't matter what you eat, what you drink, what vitamins you take, what pills you pop..........YOU WILL DIE, this is a proven fact, science has proven it, there is no way around it, no one to bribe, no one to beg and plead to, it's going to happen.

The quality of food at a Country Pride can vary by location, Albuquerque was the worst, the cook managed to burn sunnyside up eggs....and still keep the top runny. The one in Hillsdale and Limon are generally not bad, Hungary Rancher at the truck stop in Lamar, Co. is decent to above average. Same can be said for Johnsons' Corner on I-25 in Colo.. Eagles Nest, @ Gay Johnsons on I-70 in Debeque Canyon is pretty good, and good priced. Triple 7 Cafe at the Torrington Travel Plaza, Torrington, Wyo. is pretty good, small place, sloooooow service, but good food. From time to time, I get a hankering for Flying J pizza, don't know why, maybe that they are large slices and it's 2 for $5, but once a month I take lunch in at the J in Cheyenne. Sometimes, it's good for the entertainment of watching some people (no fleets mentioned) trying to back into a parking spot.

Just off the top of my head, some good mom & pop shop food or places with truck parking are the Ranch Hand in Montpelier, ID (US 30), the River City Grill in Bonner, MT (incredible food!), the 50,000 Silver Dollar place in Haugan, MT is decent and the huckleberry shakes are great. I had a really good Mexican meal at the TTT truck stop outside of Tucson about a month ago, the WOW! Diner in Milan, NM is always good. One of the best steaks on the road was the Black Iron Grill in Rock Port, MO but sadly it's gone as of a couple months ago. The Silver Moon cafe in Santa Rosa, NM has always been good to me, the travel center in Algodones, NM next to Casino Hollywood is really good, so is the place in Wendell, ID at exit 157 off of 84. If you're on the NJ Turnpike, there's a Holiday Inn at Carteret with truck parking and the hotel has a restaurant called Julian's which has absolutely awesome food. A bit of a pain in the ### to get to but the food is well worth the trouble. Hope some of this helps. There are plenty more but that's all for now ;)

Well they're not REALLY truck stops, and some will let you park over night while others you can't get into but in PA we have Wawa, Sheetz & Rutters. All 3 are a better deal than your average truckstop.

My top 5 favorite stops to eat

    5) canyon creek at the truck stop portion of the seven feathers casino, Canyonville Ore.
    4) little america, I-80 Wyo (although I've heard rumor after I gave up OTR that the sit down closed)
    3) Mollies, Snowville UT, I think exit 5 on 84? Coming into UT from Ida it's the first town
    2) Witham, exit 30 I-5 Medford Ore
    1) Pollard Flat exit 712 I-5 in Northern Calif

I never cared for Iron Skillet/ country pride. The coffee is good, but something always seemed off about the food
