Does anyone have a good spread sheet on keeping miles? Im new to running out of state. I use fleet cards for fuel. So tracking gallons I dont think will be a problem just miles.

I run loose leaf long log forms that have IFTA/IRP form attached and keep track that way...also, the Rand McNally GPS keeps track of state miles by quarter and you can input fuel purchases too. As far as spreadsheets...here you go...

It doesn't have to be complicated. Date, state, total miles, toll miles, loaded (y/n), vehicle number

You can add start od, end odometer if you want. Loaded/mt/toll only comes into play in states like NY for NY HUT.

Are you using trip reports or gps?

Yeah the rand McNally makes it pretty simple.

My lazy arse is leased to LS with an ELD and I pay an extra $4 a month to not worry about it.

If I did have to file my own IFTA I'd try to keep a hand written log and rand GPS for backup.

I used a spreadsheet for several years. I find it much easier to use Trucknpro. I key in the load, fuel and miles and at the end of the quarter I just print out an IFTA report. It does all the calculations for me.

My niece and her husband used to own trucks and she did everything manually using a composition book. IFTA doesn't need to be complicated, just accurate.
